Song choice: Spotify

One of the platforms that we found useful when researching potential song choices was Swedish music streaming service, Spotify. The service reached more than 75 million active users (20 million paid) earlier this year.

We found Spotify extremely useful, as we were able to browse by artist, album, genre, playlist, or record label. The service also has a discover section, with suggestions and recommendations based on our existing searches. This was extremely beneficial to us, when we wanted a quick way to explore similar artists and songs in the indie genre. Tayla holds a premium account, which removed advertisements while we searched and improved the audio quality, making our search a lot easier.

Spotify features an on demand library, which allowed us to make an interactive playlist of our potential song choices, so that we could save our searches and listen to them without leaving the page. Here is the playlist we created, with our current song choices...

Spotify is available as a mobile app, a desktop app and as a web player, so we had regular access to our playlist and were able to continually add and search. Users are able to integrate their account via Twitter and Facebook accounts, which made it easier for us to share new potential tracks and playlists with each other. Using Spotify has been very convenient in helping us comb through a wide range of potential tracks and  narrow down our search to the list above.
