Conventions of an indie music video: monochrome

Another common element of indie music videos is the use of a monochrome colour palette. Videos shot in black and white have a greater contrast and fit with the distinct sounds in the genre, which tend to be melodic with simple but well textured instrumentals. Here are a few examples:

         

This is something we can definitely consider, when conforming to the conventions of our genre, as it gives the above videos a professional and sophisticated edge, while also creating depth.
